Not A Hindrance

The Heritage City of Vigan as known, blasts into joyful colors through its Binatbatan Festival, drawing crowds of neighborhood and foreign tourists to its streets lined up with the famous old houses. The festival was originated from the Iluko expression batbatin, or separating cotton balls from the seeds of the local organic product tree kapas-sanglay.  Celebrated proudly to show our way of life, with street dancing competition and parades, it is really a vital celebration celebrated by the Biguenos.

As we are suffering from a pandemic, this challenge that raises a ton of problems in our lives is the very motivation behind why we are remaining strong. Just like the history of the Binatbatan Festival. It began on May 3, 1983, in light of an epidemic that killed very nearly a thousand of residents. Local people were frightened by the epidemic so they went to unite with Dr. Evaristo Abaya, a parish priest for the visit of Santo Milagroso of Sinait. Several days of the novena, the epidemic halted. The entirety of individuals yelled triumph and to God be all the glory for the occurence of miracle he has gave. Out of appreciation for this miracle, the occupants led a mass to pay tribute to who they call "Apo Lakay", until this very day, individuals of Vigan City still remember the wonder that happened a century ago.

Knowing our foundations will assist us with getting ourselves, with culture and customs we can show our legacy, a legacy that we are glad for. Still, we are offering gratitude to him for all the adoration and mercy he has shown us. The pandemic we are encountering right currently will pass on the off chance that we keep on fortifying our faith in God. Having deep binds with our way of life and tradition helps us with beating the endless difficulties life needs to bring, so we should keep on saving these for the future.
